The “Grant Special” Salmon Fly Sculpture

The “Grant Special” Salmon Fly Sculpture

Juniper is well known for its fishing guides and outdoor enthusiasts. The late Fred Grant was a guide, trapper, furniture-maker and artist who stood out in many ways. The “Grant Special” Salmon Fly Sculpture commemorates Mr. Grant’s unique fly-tying skill and celebrates this aspect of New Brunswick culture. The sculpture is 14 feet in length, making it the largest salmon fly in NB, and possibly in all of Canada!

After you take a selfie with this beautiful icon on the headwaters of the famous Miramichi River, come into our wheelchair accessible Juniper Community Centre and have a bite to eat and a look around.

Breakfast is served every Saturday throughout most of the year in Millie’s Tea Room, and you can get an affordable home style lunch Thursdays and Fridays from May through November. Explore the Juniper History Room and shop the used clothing store and knick-knack room, browse the free lending library, or exercise in our fitness room or on our woodland trail. There’s a playground behind this former school and a paved pad for shooting hoops.
