September 30 – October 2, 2022: A weekend of art and nature workshops in Florenceville-Bristol.

Workshops include:

Friday

Robert Thomas and the Sessionmen Concert (tickets through Second Wind Music Centre)

Saturday

9 am – 4 pm – Steamroller Prints with Stephen Hutchings $50

9 am – 4 pm – Visible Decorative Mending with Cat Candow $50

A favourite pair of jeans or sweater is like an old friend. Worn out knees or elbows, frayed cuffs, torn pockets, pet claw holes, rips and stains don’t have to be a reason to replace an item, they can be  reasons to get creative and breathe new life into it! In this workshop you will make a sample cloth with all kinds of different techniques that you can refer back to, and if you like, bring a piece or two of damaged clothing to get started on fixing up your own wardrobe

9 – 11 am – Leaf Printed Tea Towels with Grace Nickerson $35

Learn how to gather leaves and plants from your local area to print on a tea towel with fibre artist Grace Nickerson. Learn how to use leaves to print on fabric and end up with a hand printed tea towel for your kitchen.

Morning: Songwriting Workshop with Tom Evans and Ray Legere $35

1 -4 pm – Miniature Book Binding with Meg Clark $35

Make miniature books while learning a variety of book binding techniques including accordion and Coptic.

Afternoon: Fiddle Masterclass with Ray Legere $35

1 -5 pm: Field to Fork Event with On the Boardwalk chef Will Edsall

4:30 pm – Guided Nature Walk on the Shiktehawk Trail with Jim Goltz  FREE

Sunday

9 am – 4 pm: Marbling on Silk and Paper with Renata Britez $50

Learn the basics of this mesmerizing water marbling technique. Renata will walk participants through the recipes, and materials and demonstrate how to use the various tools to produce dynamic patterns on the surface of a water bath. This workshop will allow participants to work on learned techniques and create their own creative designs on paper and fabric. Participants will leave the course with a variety of samples on paper and a beautifully finished silk scarf!

9 am – Noon: Sign Making with Jill Denny $35

9 am – Noon: Nature Sketching $35

1 – 4 pm: Polymer Clay Miniatures with Cortney Rector $35

1 – 4 pm: Nature Photography with Stephen Hutchings $35

8:00 pm – Astronomy Night with David Hunter FREE

Learn about telescopes, the solar system, satellites, Stellarium, and, weather permitting, view the crescent moon, Saturn, and a near fly-by of it (perspectively) by an artificial satellite
